Born and raised in New Haven, CT, Scot X. Esdaile developed his passion for public service and civil rights at an early age. As a young activist, he worked on several national campaigns for such prominent change agents as Rev. Jesse Jackson, former Virginia Governor Doug Wilder, and former New Haven Mayor John Daniels.

NAACP President Derrick Johnson released a statement Monday following the news that Elon Musk purchased Twitter, saying, "Mr. Musk: free speech is wonderful, hate speech is unacceptable." Disinformation, misinformation and hate speech have NO PLACE on Twitter. Do not allow 45 to return to the platform. Do not allow Twitter to become a petri dish for hate speech, or falsehoods that subvert our democracy. Protecting our democracy is of utmost importance, especially as the midterm elections approach. Mr Musk: lives are at risk, and so is American democracy."
