Action Alert: Health Policy

Black Americans live with a greater burden of disease than whites, and our chronic conditions place us at increased risk for complications from COVID-19. The inequities within the U.S. health care system impact people of color disproportionately and lead to unequal access to services and poorer health outcomes, especially for Black Americans.

Tell Congress: expand affordable health care options

The NAACP is calling for:

  • Expansion of Medicaid as a short-term measure to cover health care for those who are impacted by this pandemic and those who don't have insurance. We are pushing for Congress to build on the coverage gains made under the Affordable Care Act and ensure access to quality, affordable health care coverage for all starting in 2021.
  • Expanded eligibility for affordable health care options and invest in long-term health care and health care education in the areas where people live.

Learn how the NAACP is addressing the most urgent health and wellbeing issues to end racial inequality.
