NAACP Blast Texas High School on the Banning of Deandre Arnold Hairstyle

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) released the following statement regarding Deandre Arnold's hair controversy:

"The suspension placed on Texas high school student Deandre Arnold due to his locs is extremely troubling. There is a stigma often associated with the natural hair of black and brown people that needs to change. Banning ethnic hairstyles is rooted in racial insensitivity and upholds the notion of white supremacy. New York and California have passed legislation banning discrimination based on natural hairstyles and we must hold accountable Texas' public officials and the rest of our country to do the same."
