Making Public Service Loan Forgiveness Work for Us

#MeMinusStudentDebt

To date, more than 70,000 additional borrowers have had their debts reduced to $0 under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) temporary expansion. The U.S. Department of Education estimates that 550,000 borrowers with consolidation loans as well as many others could eventually benefit from temporarily expanded eligibility. If you are employed by a U.S. federal (including U.S. military service), state, local, or tribal government, or some non-profit organizations, you might be eligible to have your student loans canceled.

NAACP and representatives from the U.S. Department of Education and the White House Initiative on HBCUs discussed recent changes to the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program. Borrowers who qualify for PSLF can have their student loan debt reduced to $0.

This workshop provided accurate updated information about the Public Student Loan Forgiveness program and how it can support borrowers who are African American, or from other historically disenfranchised groups.
