Understanding The Expanded Child Tax Credit
The expanded child tax credit is a six-month expansion of the child tax credit in President Biden's American Rescue Plan Law. Payments will include $300 for each child under age 6 and $250 for each child ages 6 to 17. The Child Tax Credit expansion is critical to the Black community as it cuts child poverty overall by 44.9% and it cuts Black child poverty by 54.2%. This is an important down payment toward reducing persistent racial income gaps.
