Karen Blanding has served the NAACP on several committees and in various capacities throughout the state of New York. Through her participation, she has learned how to effectively run a local NAACP office. When she was elected president of the NAACP in Corona-East Elmhurst, it consisted of a intergenerational, proactive membership. In addition to this, under her leadership, the Youth Council was reactivated. With a passion and focus on building leaders, she has travelled across the state to help the Youth & College chapters with reactivation, chartering, and implementing programmatic activities. She has also worked to reorganize NAACP offices in order for them to operate at their maximum potential.
