NAACP Comments on National Environmental Policy Act Implementing Regulations Revisions Phase

The NAACP appreciates this opportunity to offer comments on this tremendous effort to revise the Council on Environmental Quality's (CEQ) National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Implementing Regulations Revisions Phase II to reflect the realities of communities given our climate crisis.

The NAACP recognizes that prior Administrations intentionally weakened environmental laws that were meant to help communities and created additional barriers and hurdles. These revisions illustrate that CEQ understands those decisions have harmed communities and is working to fix those problems. At a time when this country is facing natural disasters at more frequent rates than ever, ensuring that foundational environmental laws and regulations reflect the climate catastrophe is critical.
