Submitting National Resolutions for Consideration by the National Convention

Female Speaking at Meeting - Styled

The Resolutions Process

A resolution submitted to the NAACP Resolutions Committee is a formal request of the NAACP's Annual Convention to change or amend the programs or policies of the NAACP or to establish new policies. The resolution submitted for consideration should be written clearly, concisely, and specifically. The substance should be well-researched and must have been approved by a majority vote of the sponsoring Unit.

Please note that all Resolutions, in hard-copy form (no faxed or electronic copies) must be received by the NAACP President and CEO, Derrick Johnson in his office at the NAACP, by Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at 5:30 PM ET, after which they are considered by the National Resolutions Committee in early May.

Thereafter, the Resolutions are provided to the delegates for consideration at the NAACP Annual Convention on Monday, July 16, 2024, and are then ratified by the National Board of Directors at the October 2024 Board of Directors' meeting.

Please note that all Resolutions must have the original signature of the unit President and the unit Secretary.

Please mail your Resolutions to:

President Derrick Johnson
NAACP Attn: Resolutions Team

Baltimore, MD  21215

It is strongly recommended that all Resolutions be sent via Certified Mail or other tracking methods in which you can receive a return receipt with the signature of the individual upon delivery.
