Urge Your Senator to Support the Equality Act
Passing the Equality Act (H.R.5) means barring discrimination in:
- Public schools,
- Credit opportunities,
- Juries, and
- Federally funded programs.
The Equality Act would also prohibit discrimination in places of public accommodation, including hotels, restaurants, entertainment venues, retail stores, transportation services, health-care facilities, and funeral homes.
Individuals shouldn't be denied access to shared facilities, such as bathrooms and locker rooms, in accordance with their gender identity.
The House has already passed H.R.5 in 2021. Now is the time to get the Senate on board. Send an email to your senator and urge them to protect the rights of the LGBTQ+ community and pass the Equality Act.
More than 600 local and national organizations support the Equality Act, according to the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), including the NAACP, National Education Association, and more.
The NAACP Office of the General Counsel, working with the law firm DiCello Levitt, plans to file lawsuits on behalf of victims of the Camp Lejeune poisoning.
