NAACP Celebrates Legal Victory Against Unconstitutional Provisions in Florida’s Voting Law
Today, a federal judge ruled that multiple parts of a voting law signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis last year were unconstitutional, striking down provisions limiting drop boxes and imposing requirements on third-day voter registration groups.
President of the Florida State Conference NAACP, Adora Obi Nweze released the following statement regarding the legal victory:
"This is a significant win for the people of Florida and drastically improves their freedom to vote, free and clear of political hurdles. The ongoing infringements we are witnessing to disenfranchise eligible Floridians, unduly burden disabled voters, and intentionally target Black voters is something that we must stop.
The NAACP will continue to challenge all overreaches of power on behalf of the Black communities and our members as we move toward a critical midterm."
