NAACP Issues Statement on the Town of Mason, Tennessee and its Residents

"All Americans deserve the right to make decisions about their future and secure opportunities for economic prosperity. The majority of Black residents in Mason, Tennessee have fought long and hard to bring Ford Motor Company to their city in order to rebuild and help create a thriving economy following years of hardship. Following threats of a state takeover that was reminiscent of exploitative post-Civil war economic policies, our local leaders in Tennessee were proud to stand alongside Mason residents and negotiate to secure their economic freedom. We are excited to watch their progress and will continue to use our resources in order to support the growth and development of Black communities across the country."
