WASHINGTON – Ahead of the 2022 Midterm elections, leaders from the nation's preeminent civil rights organization, including 24 members and leaders of NAACP's Civic Engagement and Youth and College programs, met with Vice President Kamala Harris to discuss the most pressing issues facing the Black Community.
Dominik Whitehead, NAACP's Vice President of Campaigns, released the following statement on today's meeting with Vice President Harris:
"As we face the midterm elections, it is imperative that our leaders understand the needs and expectations of Black Voters. During the 2020 elections, we turned out in historic numbers, casting deciding votes up and down the ballot with the expectation that those we showed up for, would show up for us. At the invitation of Vice President Harris to hear from our leaders we were able to share collective concerns on Democracy, Police Accountability, and key Economic concerns.
The NAACP is excited to have representation at the White House in Vice President Harris who continues to hear the concerns of our young, Black leaders. It is our hope that each conversation brings us closer to making progress on the most pressing issues facing our communities today. We look forward to continuing the open dialogue with the Biden-Harris Administration."
