Scholarship Details
The Edmund and John H. Kelly Scholarship is one of several funding opportunities available to students through the NAACP's Inspire Initiatives. We award scholarships to exceptional and qualified students. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we strive to ensure equitable educational opportunities that prepare students for success in school, work, and life. The scholarship is named to honor Edmund Kelly and his son, John Henry Kelly, two distinguished leaders of Maury County, Tennessee.
Scholarship amount: $10,000
This is a non-renewable scholarship opportunity.
SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS
- Must be a member of the NAACP. If you are not a member of the NAACP, join today.
- Must be currently enrolled full-time or accepted to an accredited college or university in the U.S.
- Applicable to graduating high school seniors and undergraduate or graduate students.
- Must possess a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale.
- Must demonstrate interest in pursuing a career in any field of study.
- Must demonstrate financial need.
- Must be a U.S. resident or citizen.
- Finalists will have a virtual panel interview.
PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED
- Be a resident and/or have a family history in Maury County, Tennessee.
Scholarship timeline
Scholarship applications will open on April 13, 2026, and conclude on May 22, 2026. Recipients will be announced in the Summer of 2026.
All completed applications are reviewed and scored. If selected, you will be notified by official notice to your email. All declinations are also sent to your email. Awards are final and cannot be appealed.
