WANT TO BE IN THE BIZ?

Be In The Biz is a national outreach program that exports the insights of Hollywood operatives to remote environments of secondary and tertiary media markets filled with creative storytellers. Recognizing the non-geographic and aspirational significance of "Hollywood," the NAACP Hollywood Bureau will convene local confabs, designed to provide valuable information to burgeoning communities of content creators across the nation.

The Be In The Biz day-long symposium will feature Hollywood thought leaders in panel discussions, a keynote luncheon, and networking reception. The NAACP Hollywood Bureau will utilize the program to develop a nationwide network of affiliates, establishing open channels of dialogue and information exchange.
This program seeks to find talent where they live. Our intention is to make "Hollywood" accessible to creatives across the country. Under-represented communities have compelling stories to tell, and many in those communities have skills to match, but need assistance in finding resources and connections. Be In The Biz seeks to fulfill that need.
- 8:00 am - 9:00 am: Check-In
- 9:00 am - 9:30 am: Welcome Address
- 9:30 am - 10:15 am: Opening Panel Discussion - Future of the Industry
  - This will be a conversation with industry professionals discussing emerging industry trends and the spectrum of career path options.
- 10:20 am - 11:15 am: 360 Degrees Behind the Scenes
  - This panel will discuss various aspects of talent representation.
- 11:20 am - 12:15pm: The Writers' Room
  - Attendees will hear from experienced writers and show runners about how create an effective story pitch.
- 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm: Keynote Luncheon
- 2:00 pm - 2:50 pm: Collaboration between Creatives and Executives
  - This panel will focus on how creatives and executives collaborate to producer compelling content for distribution.
- 2:55 pm - 3:50 pm: A Filmmakers Forum
  - This workshop will provide attendees with hands on exercises in how to adapt the written word to images on screen.
- 4:00 pm - 5:15 pm: Closing Panel Discussion – Media Advocacy/ Socially Conscious Creators
  - The panel will explore the impact and consequence of media and the need for both content creators and audiences to be conscious of their engagement.
- 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm: Networking Reception
