Eris Sims
Senior Advisor to the President and CEO

Eris Sims is a nationally recognized executive leader, organizational architect, and trusted advisor who has helped shape and advance the strategic priorities of the NAACP for more than a decade. Known for bringing clarity to complexity, aligning diverse stakeholders, and leading through periods of significant change, she has played a pivotal role in strengthening the organization, advancing its mission, and positioning it for the future.
As Senior Advisor to the President and CEO, Eris advises on key organizational priorities and strategic initiatives, bringing deep institutional knowledge and executive leadership experience to support the continued advancement of the Association's mission.
Previously, Eris served as Chief of Staff to the President and CEO, where she helped guide executive strategy, governance, and organization-wide operations across the nation's oldest and largest civil rights organization. Working closely with senior leadership, the Board of Directors, corporate partners, elected officials, and external stakeholders, she helped navigate complex challenges, drive organizational alignment, and advance some of the Association's most consequential priorities.
Eris is also Executive Producer of the NAACP Image Awards Platform, one of the nation's premier celebrations of Black excellence, achievement, and cultural impact. Working at the intersection of entertainment, advocacy, and social change, she provides executive leadership for the platform's strategic vision, growth, partnerships, and continued evolution, helping expand its reach and influence across generations.
Throughout her tenure at the NAACP, Eris has helped shape and advance major organizational initiatives, including governance modernization efforts, strategic partnerships, national advocacy campaigns, the NAACP National Convention, and the NAACP Image Awards Platform. Her leadership has consistently focused on strengthening institutions, elevating leaders, and creating the conditions for lasting impact.
Eris earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University and a Certificate in Nonprofit Leadership and Management from Boston College. She remains committed to advancing leadership, strengthening institutions, and expanding opportunities for future generations.
