Marie Rattigan is a social justice advocate, organizer, aspiring civil rights lawyer, and influencer. She was born in Miami Dade County by way of Jamaica. Marie is a first-generation scholar who obtained her Bachelor's in Broadcast Journalism and a Master of Applied Social Science with a concentration in African American Studies from Florida A&M University and a Masters in Public Administration with a certificate in civic and nonprofit management from Florida State University. Recognized for using her wrongful arrest experience at 13 years old to inspire change, she prides herself on empowering the next generation of movers and shakers. For nine years, she has organized and held leadership positions with our nation's most prominent civil rights organizations, including NAACP, Dream Defenders, Black Voters Matter, National Urban League, and National Action Network. She has also been featured in publications, including MSNBC, BNC, Jamaican Observer, The Grio, and The Famuan. She has devoted her life's work to beating the drum of justice and equality while getting in "good trouble, necessary trouble" to ensure societal change. Working at the intersection of purpose, justice, and integrity, Marie aspires to inspire until she expires. She was also a Political Contributor on The Sisaundra Show, which airs in 44 million homes and can be seen nationwide on AFRO TV, Comcast, and Xfinity. Her unapologetic commentary and real talk about social justice, politics, culture, and history spark a much-needed conversation about the state of America.
