Omar Montgomery

Omar Montgomery is an accomplished educator, civic leader, and advocate committed to advancing equity, strengthening communities, and developing leaders across systems. He currently serves as the Director of Equity, Culture, and Community Engagement for the Cherry Creek School District, where he leads districtwide strategies that build meaningful partnerships between schools, families, and community organizations.
With a career spanning K–12 and higher education, Omar began as a middle and high school teacher in the Long Beach Unified School District. He later served as Director of Upward Bound Math and Science at Compton Community College and has taught at Metropolitan State University of Denver and the University of Colorado Denver.
Omar serves as President of the Rocky Mountain State Conference of the NAACP, providing leadership across Colorado, Montana, and Wyoming. He is also the founder of Leadervate LLC, where he coaches and assists organizations in reaching their highest potential through leadership development and strategic planning.
He serves as Board Chair of the Village Exchange Center and contributes to civic leadership through roles on the Colorado Supreme Court Nominating Commission and Aurora's Citizens Advisory Budget Commission.
Omar's work has been recognized through numerous awards, including the Colorado Black Round Table Community Award (2026) and the City of Aurora Martin Luther King Jr. Humanitarian Award (2020).
He holds degrees in Criminal Justice and Black Studies, along with dual Master's degrees in Public Administration and Educational Science, and has completed doctoral coursework in Educational Leadership.
