Shelby County Voter Activation 2

What is a Volunteer?

As a volunteer, you will receive lists of voters in your community, contact Black voters in Virginia with important election information, and encourage voters to vote in person, absentee, or to verify their voter registration status.

Scripts

These scripts will help you continue to foster your relationships with your fellow volunteers as we continue to do the work until Virginia's Election Day.

Best Practices for GOTV Volunteers

  • Remember your "why".
  • Always identify yourself as a volunteer with the NAACP.
  • Smile while you dial.
  • If you don't know the answer, be truthful and say you will get an answer and follow up.
  • The best times to call are Monday-Friday from 6 pm - 9 pm, and Saturday & Sunday from 10 am - 1 pm.
  • Get to the ask.
  • Listen for the appropriate talking point.

On Election Day, we're voting for our families, our freedoms, our future. Our time is now to elect leaders who will make Virginia the best it can be: home base for the federal workforce, home for many in our military and colleges, and an example of inclusion, safety, and opportunities.
