NAACP Applauds Karine Jean-Pierre's Historic Appointment as White House Press Secretary

Action White House

"Representation matters, and it is critical that Black Americans have a voice representing them at all levels of government. Next week, Karine will shatter yet another glass ceiling and become the first Black woman and LGBTQ person to serve as White House Press Secretary — what a proud moment for Black and LGBTQ communities. Black women and girls across the country will now have the opportunity to see someone who looks like them stand at the White House podium and drive the message of our government at the highest level. I could not be more confident that Karine's decades-long experience as a communicator will continue to shine through in her ability to serve as both a voice of reason and a source of comfort for all Americans as she steps into her new role."
