LAS VEGAS - The nation's largest civil rights organization, the NAACP, will embark on Las Vegas this week for the 115th National Convention under the theme 'All In.' The primary focus of convening for the NAACP National Convention is to conduct the resolutions process - a joining of good-standing members of the Association to vote on varying resolutions which inform the official policy positions of the NAACP national perspective for the year to follow.

The NAACP is poised to pass several resolutions addressing the issues top of mind for Black America such as criminal justice reform, gun control, glorification of the confederacy, DEI, health equity, and more. This year's resolutions are an embodiment of the Association's continued commitment to protect our community from systemically racist and potentially harmful policies at the federal, state, and local levels. Some of the key topics being discussed are;

  • Condemning the Display and Commercialization of the Confederate Battle Flag
  • Calling for the Accurate Reporting of Deaths in Police Custody
  • Bridging the Digital Divide and Creating Sustainable Solutions for Connectivity in the Black Community
  • Maintaining Accurate African American History in School Curriculum
  • Advancing a Future that Reduces Plastic Pollution
  • Addressing the Mental and Behavioral Health Care Needs of the Black Community
  • Protecting and Advancing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Health, Healthcare, and Medical Education to Save Black Lives
  • Ensuring Paid Family and Medical Leave for All Workers
  • Programs for Youth Workforce Development

All resolutions passed will be ratified by the National Board of Directors during their October meeting.

As we approach the 115th National Convention, the NAACP remains resolute in our commitment to advancing civil rights as the oldest and largest civil rights organization in the nation. We stand prepared to overcome challenges, embrace opportunities, and build a more inclusive and equitable society for future generations.
