NAACP Statement on Today's Reproductive Rights Meeting with Vice President Harris

WASHINGTON – This afternoon, civil rights groups – including the NAACP – participated in a meeting on reproductive and voting rights at the White House with Vice President Kamala Harris. Portia White, NAACP's Vice President of Policy and Legislative Affairs, who participated in the meeting, released the following statement:

"We are grateful to Vice President Kamala Harris for meeting with us today at the White House. The attacks on women's reproductive rights are just the latest example of our constitutional rights being under attack. The right to defend all rights, the right to vote, is the single best tool we have to defend our democracy. The Vice President made it clear that the administration will double down on its efforts to defend this sacred right as we approach another pivotal election. The NAACP, along with our partners at Vote.org, Power The Polls and others, are ready to recruit and train poll workers, register new voters, and enlist hundreds of thousands of volunteers to get out the vote, as well as legal experts to safeguard that right. Defending democracy is not a spectator sport. We must tackle it on all fronts."
