NAACP President & CEO Derrick Johnson and Vice President Harris to headline community conversations in Milwaukee and Atlanta

WASHINGTON – The NAACP announced today that President and CEO Derrick Johnson will partner with the 49th Vice President of the United States, Kamala D. Harris, for a series of civic engagement events ahead of the November 2026 midterm elections.

Building on the NAACP's ongoing nationwide efforts to expand voter education, protect voting rights, and strengthen grassroots civic participation, the organization will lead community engagement activities in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on October 26 and Atlanta, Georgia, on October 29.

Each activation will culminate in a fireside chat featuring President Johnson and Vice President Harris, highlighting the importance of civic participation, community leadership, and continued engagement in the democratic process.

"The NAACP has been at the forefront of protecting voting rights and ensuring our communities have a voice in our democracy," said Derrick Johnson, President and CEO of the NAACP. "Our work doesn't begin or end on Election Day. From voter education to grassroots organizing, we remain committed to building informed, engaged communities. We look forward to continuing that work alongside Vice President Harris in Milwaukee and Atlanta."

These events are part of the NAACP's broader, year-round civic engagement efforts, which include voter education, community outreach, and collaboration with local branches and partners nationwide. The series follows a September voter education event hosted by the NAACP Detroit Branch President Rev. Dr. Wendell Anthony and Rev. Dr. Genetta Hatcher with Vice President Harris at Fellowship Chapel in Detroit, Michigan.

Event Details:

  • Milwaukee, Wisconsin: Monday, October 26, 2026
  • Atlanta, Georgia: Thursday, October 29, 2026

Additional details, including event times and locations, will be announced soon.
