National Black Man Voter Day Set for October 24th, Coalition Launches Week of Action
WASHINGTON (October 16, 2026) — After five weeks of national organizing calls engaging thousands of Black men, a coalition of leading national civil rights, civic engagement and community organizations is launching a nationwide Week of Action, October 19–24, culminating in the inaugural National Black Man Voter Day on Saturday, October 24, 2026.
With a goal of mobilizing 100,000 Black men, the initiative brings together community leaders, fraternity members, faith leaders, students and local organizers for coordinated civic engagement activities, community conversations, and group voting activations where early voting is available.
"This midterm election is a critical turning point for our community and our democracy," said Derrick Johnson, NAACP President and CEO. "For many generations, Black men have fought to secure access to the ballot. Today, we wield our collective power and make our voices heard from the bottom of the ballot to the top. National Black Man Voter Day is about more than an election–this is about protecting our future and refusing to ever be silenced."
"When Black men vote, we are not simply casting ballots. We are claiming our power to shape the future of our families, our communities and our nation," National Urban League President and CEO Marc H. Morial said. "National Black Man Voter Day is about turning that power into action. We are calling on Black men across America to make a plan, bring a brother with them, and show up in force. Our voices matter, our votes matter, and when we move together, we can move this nation forward."
Co-led by the National Urban League, 100 Black Men of America, Black Men Vote, Woke Vote, and the NAACP, the nonpartisan initiative has spent the past several weeks building a national organizing network of local captains, community hubs, voting plans and transportation coordination. Supporting partners include State of the People, Black Voters Matter, the National Pan-Hellenic Council, Until Freedom and the National Action Network.
"This movement has never been about simply getting thousands of brothers onto a call," said Dr. Wes Bellamy, National Public Policy Chairman and Director of Operations on the National Executive Committee of 100 Black Men of America. "We have spent the last several weeks building real organizing infrastructure — captains, hubs, voting plans, buddy systems, rides and local activations. More than 5,000 Black men have engaged with this work, and now we are preparing to turn that engagement into collective action."
Mike Bland, Executive Director of Black Men Vote, said, "This is not about asking Black men to save a political party."It is about Black men recognizing our collective power, defining our priorities and holding elected leaders accountable. We are organizing for October 24, but we are also building toward 2028, the 2030 Census and beyond."
A National Week of Action: October 19–24
Beginning Monday, October 19, participating organizations and community leaders will host activities connecting civic participation to five pillars of Black men's well-being: mental health, physical health, spiritual health, financial health and civic health.
Activities will include community wellness gatherings, barbershop conversations, faith-based events, financial empowerment discussions, voter education and local organizing efforts.
The week culminates with National Black Man Voter Day on Saturday, October 24, featuring community-led voting events, Souls to the Polls activities, caravans, group rides and campus mobilizations in states where early voting is available. In states without standard early voting, organizers will provide information on absentee voting and Election Day participation.
The campaign urges participants to develop an individual voting plan, identify their voting location, coordinate transportation when needed, and invite another brother to participate.
